Abstract This study is a critical discourse analysis of online news articles related to the alleged extortion case committed by Firli Bahuri in the online media Kompas.
This discourse analysis uses the theory of Teun A.
Van Dijk focusing on text analysis with three problem focuses, namely, macrostructure, superstructure, and microstructure.
The purpose of this study is to describe the data found in Kompas.
com online news articles related to the Firli Bahuri extortion case according to the three problem focuses that have been mentioned.
The data sources found in this study were taken from news articles from September to December 2024 The type of research conducted is qualitative.
In this study, the approach chosen from the qualitative research method is a descriptive approach, namely a research method by describing the results of the data that has been obtained.

INTRODUCTION
Discourse has a complete composition of language elements starting from phonemes to forming a complete composition.
The language formed in discourse is cohesive, which means that a discourse must have a harmonious relationship or connection between its constituent elements so as to create a neat or coherent meaning.
Discourse in the news is a text that contains a real report about an event or phenomenon, which is conveyed through the language used by a journalist or reporter.
Discourse text in the news is a form of communication that is used to provide information to the public about an important event.
Nowadays, news can not only be found on television or print media such as newspapers.
Several years ago, many mass media have digitized by creating online sites that can be used by everyone to read the news.
Several companies such as PT Kompas Cyber Media (KCM) are also participating in digitalization by providing access for readers via the internet.
Recently, the news that is still hotly discussed is the alleged blackmail case committed by Firli Bahuri against Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL).
SYL is one of the suspects in an alleged corruption case at the Ministry of Agriculture.
This case became increasingly hotly discussed when news emerged that allegations that SYL was also being blackmailed by the KPK leader.

In the critical discourse analysis study of Teun A.
Van Dijk's text model, this research focuses on three things, namely.
macrostructure, superstructure, and microstructure.
Critical Discourse Analysis sees language as something that acts in a text in the form of The main point of critical discourse analysis is analyzing information related to matters relating to power, domination and inequality produced in a discourse text.

Van Dijk's critical discourse analysis on Macro Structure focuses on the themes or topics presented in a news article.
This is interesting to study because a theme that is usually displayed in a news story refers to the title displayed.
A theme will be a reference for the sequence of content that will be presented in the news article.
Then Van Dijk also focused on superstructure, namely how news texts are interconnected starting from the introduction, content, conclusion and conclusion and how these parts form a scheme to support the topic or theme presented in the news.
