ABSTRAK Orang dengan kepribadian sadis atau gangguan mental dapat dilihat dari sikap dan perilakunya.
Sifat sadis digambarkan dalam kehidupan seseorang adalah perilakunya yang buruk.
Metode deskriptif analisis dilakukan dengan cara mendeskripsikan gangguan kepribadian sadis yang diperankan oleh Patrick Bateman dalam film American psycho, yaitu karakter dan faktor penyebap gangguan kepribadian sadis yang digambarkan oleh karakter utama.
Penulis menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif, untuk menggambarkan perilaku seseorang dan tindakan sebagai data dalam menganalisis rumusan masalah.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan gangguan kepribadian sadis yang digambarkan oleh Patrick Bateman meliputi, karakter dan faktor penyebap dalam film American psycho.
Data diambil dalam bentuk frasa, kalimat dan paragraf.
Pendekatan yang digunakan penulis adalah pendekatan psikologi yang berkenan dengan gangguan kepribadian sadis.
Hasil penelitian bawha terdapat ada tiga jenis karakater yaitu ilmuwan gila, perencana pengadilan dan penipu.
Yang kedua faktor penyebap yaitu mekanisme biologis dan status sosial ekonomi yang menunjukan perilaku, tindakan kekerasan, seksual.
